Higgins took over the operation of the East Waikato NOC in November 2017, together with NZ Transport Agency, we are reshaping how state highways are maintained and operated in the East Waikato Region. The contract covers 530 kilometres of highways in the Hauraki Plains - Coromandel Peninsula Region. Our model is underpinned by a focus on customers and a commitment to a commercial-oriented approach to provide more efficient road management.


If you are wanting career development, we are looking for a Maintenance Operations Manager for our East Waikato NOC. We are seeking someone who is motivated to provide results for a growing business who has proven experience managing operations in the roading industry.

This role will manage and oversee the operational team for the delivery of high-quality maintenance works for the East Waikato NOC. This will require influencing a strong team culture across sometimes geographically disparate areas to ensure efficient teams are put in place. As a collaborative leader with people and financial management experience, you will be working with internal and external subcontractors to ensure delivery targets are met.

A self-driven accomplished leader with strong analytical and decision-making skills, you will be able to draw upon proven experience of lifting the capability of your team with a customer-centric approach. You will lead with trust and integrity while promoting our values and our people to be a part of our “Green Team”.   

The Role:

  • Civil construction, operational delivery background with a minimum of 10 years’ experience  
  • High level leadership and communication skills with the ability to influence
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Experience and familiarity with the NZTA and local authority road maintenance contracting environment
  • Commercial and financial management skills and experience including ability to work with Excel spreadsheets
  • A high level of knowledge and commitment to operational health and safety best practice
