Careers Made Possible at Brian Perry Civil
Ready to take the next step in your career? Join a team that thrives on collaboration and bold thinking, delivering complex civil projects that shape communities and protect environments. Here, your ideas matter, your growth is supported, and your work leaves a lasting impact.

About the Role

Brian Perry Civil is one of New Zealand's most established civil construction contractors, with a strong track record in underground infrastructure. We are looking for a Project Manager to lead the delivery of pipeline renewals, dig and relay, tunnelling and directional drilling projects. You will take full ownership of project outcomes, from planning and procurement through to final handover, working alongside a capable delivery team and a network of trusted subcontractors and consultants.

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of underground infrastructure projects including renewals, dig and relay, tunnelling and directional drilling
  • Build, lead and develop a high-performing project team, setting clear expectations and supporting people to do their best work
  • Own the project budget, programme and risk register, proactively identifying and resolving issues before they become problems
  • Manage relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and local authorities, keeping communication clear and stakeholders well-informed
  • Champion health, safety and environmental standards across the project, visibly modelling the behaviours you expect from your team
  • Drive quality outcomes from start to finish, ensuring work meets contractual, legal and company standards throughout the defect liability period

What You Will Bring to the Role

  • A tertiary qualification in engineering or a related discipline; Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status is an advantage
  • 10 or more years of experience in civil or construction project management, with a solid understanding of underground infrastructure methods including pipe renewals, HDD and tunnelling
  • Proven ability to lead and develop people across a multidisciplinary project team in complex, large-scale environments
  • Sound commercial acumen, including experience managing project budgets, contracts, procurement and margin performance
  • Strong working knowledge of New Zealand health and safety legislation and RMA requirements
  • Clear and confident communicator who can align teams, negotiate effectively and build trust with clients and stakeholders at all levels
