Winstone Aggregates’ looking for a technically minded quarry supervisor to join the team in stunning Hastings. This opportunity has come up due to an internal promotion which means it has a proven record as a fantastic development role. 

Roy’s Hill is an alluvial river quarry specialising in concrete aggregate. There are four loaders, two excavators, two dump trucks, one watercart, and a fixed plant operation to create concrete aggregate, sealing chip and pavement aggregate. The team is a friendly, family environment. The quarry manager is hardworking and invested in his employees, he is passionate about growth and seeing his team do well.

The Concrete Division comprises Fletcher Building’s aggregate, cement and concrete businesses, employing over 1300 people across three business units. Winstone Aggregates is 150 years old and the largest supplier of sand and aggregate in New Zealand. We will offer you a steady and secure work environment. 

You will be supervising a team of around nine people. You will need to lead by example by following and monitoring health and safety. Part of that will involve issuing permits to work, running and attending H&S meetings. You will be responsible for quarry inspections, testing of product, keeping up with production KPIs, quality control, and record keeping. 

To be successful for this role you will need to have: 
  • A full New Zealand driver’s licence
  • B Grade COC or working towards one
  • Right to work in New Zealand
  • Previous quarry supervisor experience is an advantage
  • Permit to Work and/or Job Safety Analysis experience would be helpful

The site is looking for someone who can think logically and has a strong appreciation for the mechanical aspects of the role. It is not essential to be an experienced supervisor, but it’s an advantage to have led a team or have experience in a mechanical trade such as fitter welding, engineering. This is a great opportunity for someone wanting to grow a quarrying career.
