The Fletcher Steel People and Performance team provides leadership and support across our 700 employees throughout our 30 sites in New Zealand. We are a small team who understand that our role is about helping our business and people succeed . . and we like to have fun along the way!

The Role

The emphasis of this opportunity is on true ‘partnering’ with the business - it’s more than just a title. This means you’ll understand the businesses challenges and partner with them to provide long lasting solutions. Our varied workforce means that one day you might be out on site with our machine operators, while another will be spent alongside our Senior Leadership team. You can expect to be at the forefront of taking ownership of new initiatives.  We are culturally a diverse organisation and you’ll enjoy that environment. This role also requires excellent communication skills, as delivery of concise and pragmatic advice to all levels within our organisation is critical. 

About You

You’ll bring highly self-motivated approach (no micro managing here!) -  with the proven ability of using your experience and judgement to apply sensible and well-thought out solutions. You might not necessarily be from a pure HR background, as this is a great opportunity for someone that has been involved in a broader people and performance role (eg operations management) who wants to gain more specific HR experience.  Or, you may have a set of narrower experiences around a specific HR area (such as ER) that you want to develop into a broader and more senior role.  If you’ve had experience working in agile that would be great-  as we are placing a big focus on how we deliver for the business.

So, we’re not so interested in what your current job title is – it’s more what you would bring to the business and how you would add to the team and our business.

You’ll naturally be curious and be prepared to bring your own experiences and skills to the business.  You’ll enjoy contributing to the ongoing conversations around strategic and tactical focus of the People and Performance team and will bring a sense of humour, adaptability and resilience.
