There’s an opportunity to join an excellent team at Winstone Aggregate’s Wellington lab on a fixed term contract until May 2020. Never worked in a lab before? No problem, we’re happy to train. This is a rare opportunity to become a lab technician at this site – they don’t come up often! This role is based at Belmont Quarry in Lower Hutt. Hours are 7.30am – 4.30pm Monday to Friday.
The Concrete Division comprises Fletcher Building’s aggregate, cement and concrete businesses, employing over 1300 people across three business units. Winstone Aggregates is 150 years old and the largest supplier of sand and aggregate in New Zealand.
Lab work in a quarry may not be what you’re imagining. You don’t need a white coat or a science degree, but common sense will take you far in this role. Your goal is to identify and assess the quality of the aggregate we produce. There’s a variety of tests you conduct to test strength, measure size and make up.
To be successful for this role you will need to have:
- A full New Zealand driver’s licence
- Physically fit (there is repetitive heavy lifting)
- Health and safety conscious
- Right to work in New Zealand
You’ll be working in a small team of four so being a self-starter is a plus. If you consider yourself a great communicator and easy to get along with, then you’ll fit right in.
In return we’ll offer you:
- A guaranteed 40 hour week
- Career advancement opportunities
- A stepping stone into the wider quarrying environment
If you’re not afraid of hard work, have excellent attention to detail and keen to learn then we’d like to hear from you. Apply online.
