Description

Firth has a proud history of supporting New Zealand’s construction industry for decades. As a leading supplier of ready‑mix concrete and masonry solutions, Firth operates from around 80 sites nationwide, supported by a diverse team of approximately 700 people. Our products help shape communities across residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects throughout Aotearoa.

We are now seeking a Financial Accountant to join our supportive Commercial team in Auckland on a fixed term basis until Feb 2027 with an immediate start.

About the role
Working closely with the Senior Financial Accountant, you will help ensure the quality and integrity of Firth’s financial reporting. You’ll play a key role in monthly reporting, reconciliations, compliance, and process improvement—contributing to sound decision‑making across the business.

What you’ll be responsible for
  • Completing balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations
  • Preparing GST, FBT, taxation, and statutory compliance requirements
  • Assisting with audit documentation
  • Supporting month‑end processes
  • Work with internal stakeholders to resolve queries
  • Contributing ideas that improve systems, processes, and ways of working
  • Working in a way that prioritises health, safety, and wellbeing
What you’ll bring
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Commerce, or Business
  • Around 2+ years’ experience in transactional accounting or financial analysis
  • Strong Excel capability and confidence working with financial data
  • Working knowledge of NZ accounting and tax compliance
  • A thoughtful, organised approach with strong attention to detail
  • Clear communication skills and a collaborative mindset
What we offer
  • A supportive, inclusive team culture where your contribution matters
  • Flexible working options where possible once settled
  • Access to Fletcher Building employee benefits and wellbeing initiatives
  • Career development and learning opportunities across a large, respected group
  • The chance to work for a business making a real impact across New Zealand

If you enjoy working with others, take pride in producing quality work, and are looking to grow your accounting career in a values‑led organisation, we’d love to hear from you.

Research shows that females and minority groups don’t apply for roles unless they match 100% the job description.

We are proud of your diversity and see it as one of the things that make us stronger. We welcome your individuality and encourage you to bring your true self to work, so if this role is of interest but you feel you don’t fit it, we would still love you to apply.
