Description

Firth is part of the Concrete Division of Fletcher Building, with a proud history of supporting New Zealand’s construction industry for decades. As a leading supplier of ready‑mix concrete and masonry solutions, Firth operates from around 80 sites nationwide, supported by a diverse team of approximately 700 people. Our products help shape communities across residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects throughout Aotearoa.

We are now seeking an Accounts Assistant to join our supportive Commercial team in Auckland. This is a role where accuracy, collaboration, and continuous improvement are genuinely valued.

About the role
Working closely with the Senior Financial Accountant, you will help ensure the quality and integrity of Firth’s financial reporting. You’ll play a key role in monthly reporting, reconciliations, compliance, and process improvement—contributing to sound decision‑making across the business.

What you’ll be responsible for
  • Completing balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations
  • Preparing GST, FBT, taxation, and statutory compliance requirements
  • Assisting with audit documentation
  • Supporting month‑end processes
  • Work with internal stakeholders to resolve queries
  • Contributing ideas that improve systems, processes, and ways of working
  • Working in a way that prioritises health, safety, and wellbeing
What you’ll bring
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Commerce, or Business (or working towards)
  • Around 2+ years’ experience in transactional accounting or financial analysis
  • Working knowledge of NZ (or AU) accounting and tax compliance
  • Strong Excel capability and confidence working with financial data
  • A thoughtful, organised approach with strong attention to detail
  • Clear communication skills and a collaborative mindset
  • A desire to learn, improve, and contribute as part of a wider team
What we offer
  • A supportive, inclusive team culture where your contribution matters
  • Flexible working options where possible
  • Access to Fletcher Building employee benefits and wellbeing initiatives
  • Career development and learning opportunities across a large, respected group
  • The chance to work for a business making a real impact across New Zealand

If you enjoy working with others, take pride in producing quality work, and are looking to grow your accounting career in a values‑led organisation, we’d love to hear from you.

Research shows that females and minority groups don’t apply for roles unless they match 100% the job description.

We are proud of your diversity and see it as one of the things that make us stronger. We welcome your individuality and encourage you to bring your true self to work, so if this role is of interest but you feel you don’t fit it, we would still love you to apply.
