Description

The Higgins Team in Hamilton is seeking a Plant Operator to join the crew at the asphalt plant.  You will be part of a small, close-knit team that manufactures and supplies mix to both external and internal clients.

We welcome applications from experienced plant operators, as well as those with a manufacturing or mechanical background who are keen to build a career in civil manufacturing. If you’re motivated, safety focused, and eager to learn, we can support you to grow into the role.

What you’ll bring to the role:
  • Prior plant operating experience is highly sought after; other relevant experience will be considered (e.g. concrete or manufacturing plants)
  • Mechanical experience is advantageous (e.g. heavy diesel, plant maintenance)
  • Previous manufacturing experience is beneficial
  • Familiarity with handling bitumen with D & F endorsements would be an advantage but not essential
  • Flexibility to work a roster of days and nights
  • Full Class 1 licence essential – WTR and Class 2 are desirable (support provided to obtain these)
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • A strong commitment to health and safety

At Higgins, we’re committed to providing a supportive team environment, ongoing training, and opportunities to build a long term career in the civil industry.

Come & join the Green Team:
  • Grow and develop in a supportive team who treat each other like Whānau
  • Competitive hourly rate + guaranteed 40 hours per week
  • Opportunity to upskill and gain further licenses if required
  • Brand new PPE gear (that’s your own personal protective equipment)
  • Awesome benefits for you and your family to enjoy
  • Access to educational funds for you and your children
  • Funding for school holiday programmes and tutoring for your children
  • Z fuel discounts including a monthly free pie and coffee
