Description

Higgins Wellington is looking for an experienced and hands on Asphalt Surfacing Supervisor to lead our crews and ensure the safe, efficient and high quality delivery of asphalt surfacing works across the region.

This is a key leadership role for someone who thrives in a fast paced operational environment, enjoys problem solving on the go, and is committed to delivering great outcomes for clients, crews and the community.

What you’ll be doing
  • Planning and coordinating weekly and forward work programmes
  • Allocating labour, plant, materials and subcontractors across multiple crews and sites
  • Leading daily operations and supporting Forepersons with technical and sequencing challenges
  • Monitoring site performance and intervening early to manage risks
  • Ensuring consistent application of approved methodologies and best practice
  • Taking ownership of quality outcomes, inspections, testing and documentation
  • Providing visible leadership in health, safety and environmental management
  • Managing environmental controls, compliance and incident reporting
  • Monitoring productivity, costs and material usage
  • Reviewing reporting, diaries and production outputs
  • Acting as the primary operational contact for clients, RCAs and external stakeholders
  • Leading, coaching and developing Forepersons and emerging leaders

What you’ll bring to the role
  • Strong technical understanding of asphalt surfacing operations and methodologies
  • Experience supervising asphalt surfacing crews or operations (desirable)
  • Proven ability to plan, coordinate and supervise complex, high risk work
  • Strong leadership, coaching and people management capability
  • Sound knowledge of HSQE, QA and environmental management systems
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to manage productivity and costs
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Class 1 licence and WTR endorsements
  • Site Safe Supervisor Passport (desirable)
  • Leadership or supervisory training (desirable)
