Description

Due to recent growth and a strong forward work position in the Waikato, we have an opportunity for a Assistant Accountant to join the Waikato Region. 

Reporting to the Area Finance Manager – Waikato and leading a team of 6 administrators, you will be undertaking and delivering finance and contract management support services.

A typical day may include:
  • Leading and guiding administrators, setting clear expectations and supporting their professional growth to improve team performance
  • Raising customer invoices and assisting in weekly debtor and cashflow management
  • Maintaining project, customer, and supplier master data files within JDE
  • Assist project managers and engineers in understanding project/financial reporting
  • Assist in the region’s administrative, regulatory, and financial duties and in line with the Group timetable

What you’ll bring to the role:
  • Tertiary qualification in accounting with over 3 years practical accounting experience
  • Prior experience in Civil Contracting / Construction industry is essential
  • People leadership / management experience
  • Chartered Accountant designation (or equivalent) or working towards this
  • Confident at owning and managing workflows with competing deadlines
  • High attention to detail
  • Highly organised with the ability to prioritise 
  • Advanced in Excel
  • Excellent communication skills
