The Role
The Auckland North Branch is currently building homes in our large land positions in Swanson, Moire Rd, Whenuapai, Hobsonville Point and Red Beach areas, with other opportunities on the horizon. This role is about supporting and assisting the Construction Supervisors who oversee the on-site construction while developing your skills in the process. We see this role as an ideal environment for exposure to many aspects of our construction and council compliance requirements. At the same time you will be coached and mentored by some our experienced team to prepare you for your next step as a Construction Supervisor.

A point of difference is that we build spec homes which are handed as a finished product to our Sales Team, so our Construction Supervisors do not have to deal with external customers during the build process. The Assistant Construction Supervisor’s role is to enable and assist the Construction Supervisors to focus on the construction programme while also supporting the provision of leadership to contractors engaged in the delivery of quality homes in a timely and safe manner.

About You
As your role will be to support the management of new build homes you will need to have a genuine passion and desire to develop a career in the construction sector, as well as a keen interest in residential construction. Additionally, you will have a flair for problem solving and finding solutions alongside a strong desire to learn, which means you will need to be able to listen, follow directions and know when to ask for help. In return, we offer diversity and challenge along with personal and professional growth.

While preference will be given to those with some project management training and construction experience (preferably residential), this is a rare opportunity for someone to grow their career from the ground up.

Skills and Experience
  • Diploma or Bachelor Degree in Construction Management, Engineering or Architecture (or similar). We will also consider carpentry trade apprentices who wish to pursue further tertiary studies
  • Top notch verbal and written communication skills alongside a natural ability to search out and develop strong professional relationships with a range of people at varying levels
  • An unquestionable work ethic
  • Planning and programming skills
  • Project management training with experience in Microsoft Project and/or Primavera P6
  • The ability to work with limited supervision from time to time whilst also being a strong team player
  • Full drivers licence

This is a good time to join our business. You will have the unrivalled access to training, development programmes and career progression that comes with being part of the Fletcher Building Group. An attractive remuneration package will be on offer to the successful applicant.
