Description

Stramit, part of the Fletcher Building Group, is a leading manufacturer and supplier of quality building products across Australia and New Zealand. We’re seeking an experienced Assistant Credit Manager to play a key leadership role within our Group Finance function.

This is a hands on role suited to someone who thrives in a fast paced environment, enjoys leading people, and brings strong technical and reporting capability alongside sound commercial judgement.

About the role

Reporting to the National Credit Manager, you will lead a team of 6 , overseeing day to day credit operations, managing risk across the debtor portfolio, and acting as the key escalation point for complex credit matters.

You’ll balance operational delivery with people leadership, advanced reporting and continuous improvement, while working closely with Sales, Finance and Customer teams to resolve issues and support strong customer relationships.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading, coaching and developing a team of Credit Officers, including ownership of team training and capability uplift
  • Managing credit risk, exposure and collections across the debtor portfolio
  • Acting as the primary escalation point for complex credit issues and dispute resolution
  • Producing high level reporting and analysis to support decision making, cashflow and risk management
  • Using advanced Excel skills to manage data, reporting and insights
  • Driving process improvements to increase efficiency and consistency across the credit function
  • Ensuring compliance with credit policies, delegations and internal controls
  • Managing multiple priorities in a high volume environment with strong attention to detail

About you

You’re a confident and capable credit leader who is comfortable juggling competing priorities and being the “go to” person for resolving issues. You combine strong people leadership with technical credit expertise and advanced reporting capability.

You’ll bring:
  • Proven experience in credit and collections, ideally in a senior or leadership role
  • Experience leading and developing a team, with the confidence to hold accountability
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong reporting capability
  • A high level of attention to detail and strong organisational skills
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and problem solving ability
  • Strong commercial acumen and analytical capability
  • A tech savvy mindset with experience using credit systems and reporting tools
  • The ability to build strong working relationships across Sales, Finance and Customer teams
