Description

We’re looking for two experienced Class 5 Drivers to join our Hamilton team in a specialist bitumen tanker role for the summer season.

These are hands-on roles where you’ll be responsible for transporting and handling bitumen products across the North Island, working closely with site crews to keep projects running safely and on schedule.

These are fixed-term roles starting 1 September 2026 through to 25 March 2027, with the potential to extend depending on workload.

You’ll be operating modern, well-maintained equipment, including:
  • 6x4 hydrogen/diesel dual fuel tractor unit with 3-axle semi-trailer – 39 tonne GCM
  • Isuzu 8x4 diesel truck with 5-axle trailer unit – 55 tonne GCM

What you’ll be doing:
  • Operate bulk tanker vehicles to transport and deliver bitumen products
  • Manage heating, pumping and transfer systems for safe and correct handling
  • Carry out pre-start checks, calibrations and daily inspections
  • Complete deliveries efficiently while meeting compliance requirements
  • Maintain accurate logbooks, delivery records and documentation
  • Work closely with crews to coordinate timing and site requirements

What you’ll bring to the role:
  • Class 5 licence, with Dangerous Goods endorsement (we can support you to gain this)
  • At least 2 years’ experience in line haul or similar heavy transport work
  • Experience driving automatic gearboxes
  • Bulk liquid or dynamic load experience is an advantage
  • Experience handling hazardous or temperature-controlled products is an advantage
  • Confidence using phones and/or tablets for reporting and job tracking/electronic logbooks and prestarts etc.
  • Strong understanding of transport safety and compliance requirements
  • Comfortable working independently and managing your time
  • Ability to work in a face paced, dynamic environment with a patience and an ability to cope with change
  • Flexibility to stay away at short notice, occasional weekend and overnight work
