About Stramit
Stramit is one of Australia's leading manufacturers and suppliers of building products and as part of Fletcher Building, we provide innovative steel building solutions across roofing, walling, structural and rainwater products for residential, commercial and industrial projects throughout Australia.

Our success is built on strong customer relationships, technical expertise and a commitment to helping customers build smarter, safer and more sustainable projects. Through a nationwide network and trusted brand reputation, Stramit partners with architects, engineers, builders and developers to deliver practical solutions from design through to construction.

About the Opportunity
Due to an internal promotion, Stramit is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager – Specifications to drive specification growth across Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania.

This is a senior, highly influential role responsible for creating demand and driving specification opportunities with architects, engineers, builders and developers during the design phase of commercial projects. Working closely with the National Commercial team, Regional Sales teams and
Commercial Account Managers, you will generate opportunities, build strategic relationships and ensure projects progress through the pipeline and ultimately convert to sales outcomes.

This is not a transactional sales role. We're looking for a strategic relationship builder who can identify opportunities early in the project lifecycle, influence specification outcomes and develop long-term partnerships with architects, engineers, builders and developers. Success in this role comes from understanding project drivers, providing technical expertise and creating opportunities that deliver sustainable growth over time.

As a key member of the Commercial team, you'll also act as a trusted support partner to the leadership team, helping drive pipeline visibility, sales engagement and specification outcomes across the region.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Develop and execute a specification growth strategy across the Southern Region
  • Build and maintain influential relationships with architects, engineers, builders and developers
  • Identify and pursue new project opportunities through desktop research, market intelligence and targeted engagement
  • Generate qualified specification opportunities and ensure they are actively progressed through to project conversion
  • Manage and maintain the specification pipeline within Salesforce, ensuring opportunities, touchpoints and project outcomes are accurately tracked
  • Work closely with Stramit’s technical and engineering teams
  • Provide technical advice and product support relating to NCC compliance, design, specification and installation requirements
  • Partner with Commercial Account Managers and Regional Account Managers to drive project activity and close the loop on opportunities
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity and emerging opportunities to support business growth and product development initiatives
  • Support revenue and margin growth by ensuring specification opportunities translate into commercial outcomes.

What We're Looking For
You are an experienced, resilient and commercially savvy business development professional who thrives on creating opportunities and influencing decision-makers.

You'll bring:
  • Proven experience in a Specification Manager, Specifications BDM, Architectural Representative or similar specification-focused role
  • Strong track record of engaging architects, engineers and key project stakeholders to influence specifications
  • Building and construction industry experience is essential
  • Engineering or technical qualifications highly regarded
  • Exceptional relationship-building and influencing skills
  • The resilience and persistence to proactively prospect and cold call when required
  • The ability to balance strategic planning with hands-on business development activity
  • Experience using lead generation platforms such as BCI, Cordell or similar
  • Salesforce or CRM experience managing project pipelines and customer engagement
