Laminex New Zealand is on an exciting trajectory, and we’re looking for Business Development Manager to strengthen our market-leading position by driving new business development opportunities and specification in both the commercial and residential sectors.  This is a unique opportunity to open new pathways and shape primary demand, influence key decision makers, and elevate Laminex’s presence across residential and commercial projects.

About the Role:
If you’re energised by growth, relationship-building and being at the forefront of industry activity, this is an opportunity to truly make your mark.  As a Business Development Manager, you will step into a newly created, high-impact role where you will shape early demand across both the commercial and residential construction landscape.  You will play a critical role in expanding the use of our current and emerging product range. You will be at the forefront of the market, engaging developers, architectural designers, quantity surveyors, and key influencers across the building and interiors landscape.  This role plays a critical part in shaping product preference, championing innovation, and reinforcing our commitment to local manufacturing and sustainability. 

What You’ll Do
  • Develop and deliver primary demand strategy and growth by creating and capturing new business opportunities across residential and commercial sectors.
  • Deliver measurable growth and demonstrate influence across every stage of the customer and project journey Actively build and expand opportunity pipelines, collaborating with Specification and Sales team to progress projects through the funnel.
  • Analyse market trends, customer behaviour and industry shifts to refine strategy and strengthen Laminex’s market positioning.
  • Build strong engagement and preference for Laminex with key influencers including architects, builders, developers, designers, interior businesses and group home builder design teams. 
  • Partner with Sales, Marketing and Category teams to maximise the impact of new product commercialisation, especially high-value, design led innovations. 
  • Work closely with Specification Business Partners to deliver a seamless, full-service approach to generating new business across the entire Laminex product suite.
  • Attend building industry events, specification sessions, and networking opportunities.

What You'll Bring
  • Previous experience in building, construction, interiors, or architectural industry with a track record of creating and converting new business into measurable sales outcomes.
  • Strategic thinking paired with commercial acumen with the ability to identify market potential and turn insights into growth.
  • A hunter/gatherer mindset, self-motivated, proactive, and opportunity driven with the ability to open doors, build pipelines and drive engagement. 
  • Strong technical understanding of building products or hands-on trade experience.
  • Ability to build strong relationships and engage confidently with architects, designers, builders, and developers.
  • A collaborative approach, partnering effectively across sales, marketing and specifications teams to drive shared outcomes.
  • Proficient with use of PowerPoint, Excel, Salesforce, and digital tools.
