Description

Reporting to the Region Manager, you will be situated at our Waikato Branch. As a key member of the Waikato leadership team, your primary role oversees a substantial construction portfolio, currently valued at $50 million and growing. Higgins proudly operates within the large capital works, minor works, and the commercial sector within the civil industry.

Geographically, the Waikato branch spans from the Bombays, extending through Taupo, and into the scenic Coromandel Peninsula. Your strategic focus will revolve around enhancing the capabilities of our pavements team and exploring further growth opportunities venturing into additional parts of the civil industry. 
In conjunction with our East Waikato Networks Contract, your involvement will extend to Rehabilitation projects within the renewals program. Higgins has a full pipeline of projects phasing through to mid-to-late 2025. Working with our commercial and tendering team you will be targeting new opportunities aligned with our strategy. 

You will be at home leading a team, with four direct reports and an overall team of 50. Taking on this role entails the management of a dedicated team, with four direct reports and 40 frontline staff. What you’ll bring to the role:

· Extensive proven experience in a similar type of role, with a key focus on capital works 

· Understanding of the technical, contractual and financial requirements involved in construction and maintenance contracts

· Experience in tendering and commercial as well as budgeting, management of P&L and cost control

· Civil Engineering Degree desirable

· Communication and relationship management skills

· Ability to lead and motivate a high performing team
