About the Role
As a Despatcher, you’ll play a key role in ensuring our customers receive world‑class service through accurate planning, communication, and delivery execution. You’ll coordinate daily routes, optimise fleet performance, and support both our internal teams and external partners to keep everything running smoothly.

This role blends planning, problem‑solving, and real‑time decision‑making. You’ll use our transport management systems and tools to plan next‑day deliveries, manage exceptions, and ensure DIFOT performance remains strong. You’ll also work closely with drivers, branches, and 3PL providers to maintain service levels, manage capacity, and keep operations safe and compliant.

Daily Responsibilities Include
Planning and assigning all next‑day delivery orders using Descartes Route Planner
Monitoring delivery progress and adjusting schedules as needed
Identifying optimisation opportunities within Route Planner and BAU processes
Taking calls from drivers and branches, resolving issues within process and budget
Attending toolbox meetings and completing monthly driver ride‑alongs
Liaising with branches on bookings, delivery times, and service updates
Completing required reports and maintaining accurate data housekeeping
Ensuring compliance with NZTA regulations, including driver hours and logbook requirements
Monitoring vehicle maintenance schedules and escalating issues to fleet management

Skills and Experience
Experience with a route planning tool (e.g., Descartes Route Planner)
Proficient in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
Understanding of local geographical constraints
Knowledge of NZ transport regulations
Strong communication and analytical skills
High attention to detail and excellent time management
Ability to build strong working relationships across all levels

This is a permanent full-time position working 40 hours a week Monday-Friday + Rostered Saturdays based in our Wiri Plant
