Foreperson – Drainage (Palmerston North) 

Higgins Palmerston North is looking for an experienced and proactive Drainage Foreperson to lead our drainage crews across the Manawatū region. This Palmerston North–based role is a key leadership position responsible for coordinating day to day site operations and ensuring safe, high quality and efficient delivery of drainage works.

What you’ll be doing
  • Leading and supervising drainage crews on a range of civil projects
  • Planning, coordinating and delivering daily site activities
  • Ensuring drainage works (pipelines, manholes, connections, structures) meet design, safety and quality standards
  • Managing plant, materials, subcontractors and labour resources
  • Reading and interpreting plans, levels and specifications
  • Maintaining strong communication with project managers, clients and stakeholders
  • Driving a positive safety culture and ensuring compliance with Higgins’ HSE requirements
  • Mentoring and developing team members, including Leading Hands and labourers
  • Supporting project delivery by identifying risks, resolving issues and keeping work on track

What you’ll bring
  • Proven experience in drainage or civil construction, ideally in a leadership or foreperson role
  • Strong technical knowledge of drainage construction methods, materials and equipment
  • Ability to lead, motivate and mentor crews
  • Experience with rotary and pipe lasers (advantageous)
  • Drainlaying and/or Water qualifications (bonus)
  • Strong planning, problem solving and communication skills
  • Ability to read plans, understand levels and follow site instructions
  • Full Class 1 licence - Class 2 and WTR endorsements are an advantage
  • Physically fit, reliable and committed to safe work practices
  • A positive attitude and willingness to work flexible hours when required
