Description

Our Higgins Green Team in Mount Maunganui is looking for a Drainage & Civil Maintenance Operator to support day to day works within the Port environment.

What you’ll be doing
You’ll be part of a small, capable team delivering hands on drainage and civil maintenance work in an active operational site. Your days will include a mix of operating and on the ground work, such as:
  • Drainage maintenance and repairs – trenching, installs, reinstatements, cesspit and manhole installs/repairs
  • Working safely with a spotter/labourer in an active operational site
  • General maintenance tasks including pothole repairs, minor asphalt, drainage reinstatements, and environmental works
  • Operating plant as required, but also getting on the tools – this is not an operator-only role
  • Following Port and Higgins safety procedures and looking out for your team

What we’re looking for
  • Full Class 2 licence + WTR (essential)
  • Confident driving manual trucks
  • Hands-on plant experience (real experience, not just tickets)
  • Solid, practical drainage experience (maintenance experience is highly valued)
  • A safe, team-first attitude – you follow procedures and speak up when something’s not right
  • A flexible approach and willingness to pitch in wherever the work is
  • Ability to work occasional night shifts and weekends when required
  • Class 4 is an advantage (but not essential)

Why join us:
  • Competitive hourly rate
  • Permanent role with guaranteed 40 hours per week
  • KiwiSaver employer contribution matched up to 4%
  • Opportunity to upskill and gain further licenses
  • Great benefits for you and your family to enjoy
  • Access to educational funds for you and your children
  • Funding for school holiday programmes and tutoring for your children
  • Z fuel discounts including a monthly free pie and coffee
