Description

Higgins has an exciting opportunity for a skilled Drainlayer to join our team working on the Waikato District Council northern road maintenance and renewals contract. This contract covers North Waikato from Huntly to Pōkeno and includes the maintenance of approximately 1,200 km of sealed and unsealed roads, spanning rural and coastal areas.

Based out of our depot in Te Kauwhata, this is a hands-on role where you’ll be responsible for installing and maintaining drainage systems to a high standard, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. You’ll also have the opportunity to share your knowledge and mentor apprentices on site.

What you’ll bring to the role:
  • A Certified Drainlayer licence, however if you have the experience but no tickets, we can help you get certified!
  • Confidence and proven ability in undertaking all aspects of drainlaying, including inside and outside work
  • WTR Endorsement and Class 2 License (preferrable)
  • Civil sector experience
  • A strong work ethic
  • A strong focus on health and safety not only for yourself, your colleagues but also the public
  • Be physically fit, able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
