Description

As an EHS Business Partner at PlaceMakers you’ll be the go-to expert for health, safety, & environmental standards across our Auckland & Northland branches. This isn’t a role where you sit back and tick boxes; it’s hands-on, collaborative, and critical to shaping a culture where safety & wellbeing come first. 

You’ll work closely with branch leaders and teams to turn compliance into action developing and structuring branch EHS plans, managing risks, provide H&S support & training while driving initiatives that make a real difference by creating safer workplaces and supporting our people every step of the way.

  • Develop and monitor branch EHS annual plans 
  • Facilitate employee engagement and health & safety committee activities 
  • Maintain risk registers and support risk assessments for new equipment, processes, or tasks 
  • Coordinate health & safety training and maintain accurate records 
  • Lead and support investigations for serious incidents and ensure timely reporting 
  • Manage emergency response plans and drills across sites 
  • Support contractor safety management and compliance 
  • Assist with injury management and rehabilitation processes 
  • Conduct audits to meet ACC WSMP and PlaceMakers standards 
  • Participate in national EHS projects and continuous improvement initiatives

Permanent full-time role 40 hours per week Monday to Friday with a regional focus. Being Auckland based is essential for this role as your home base will be at one of our Auckland PlaceMakers branches, and you’ll regularly travel throughout the Auckland & Northland regions.

About You:
To succeed in this role, you’ll be more than a health and safety professional, you’ll be a trusted EHS partner with the ability to connect with people, inspire and influence behaviours bringing health & safety to life through everyday actions and making safety second nature. You will be a natural communicator and relationship builder who understands safety-critical environments bringing a practical, hands-on approach and is not afraid to roll up your sleeves whether that’s coaching a manager, running a risk assessment, or jumping on-site to see things firsthand.

  • Strong knowledge of NZ H&S legislation, risk frameworks, and compliance standards
  • Proven experience in a comparable Health & Safety role, bonus points if within the building & construction industry
  • Demonstrated success in influencing behaviours, driving accountability, and delivering H&S strategies 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the confidence to engage and build relationships at all levels
  • Tech-savvy and comfortable working across systems
  • Full NZ Class 1 driver’s licence is a Must
  • Flexibility to travel across Auckland & Northland Regions
  • A H&S certification or qualification is advantageous
