As a Finance Business Partner - Category & Marketing at PlaceMakers part of Fletcher Building Group, you’ll sit at the heart of decision-making. Partnering with the Category GM & Marketing GM to turn numbers into strategic insights that shape revenue growth, margin improvement, customer value, and drive performance. Reporting to the Head of Financial Planning & Analysis you’ll work across both Category and Marketing to support and influence decisions, provide commercial advice, challenge thinking, and ensure our leaders have clear, actionable financial insight. Your remit will span pricing strategy, promotions, range optimisation, supplier funding, and marketing investment.

This isn’t a back-office role it’s a front-seat opportunity to influence strategy, guide investment, and be a trusted advisor to the business. From budgeting and forecasting to supporting transformation initiatives, your work will focus on evaluating commercial trade-offs not just managing spend.

  • Supporting business cases, investment decisions, and transformation initiatives
  • Helping uplift financial capability across teams and building strong cross-functional relationships

Based on site at PlaceMakers Support Office in Penrose, Auckland, this is a permanent full-time role, offering 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

About You:
To succeed in this role, you’ll bring proven experience in a similar finance business partner role, have a passion for turning numbers into insights and enjoy balancing creativity with financial discipline. Combining sharp analytical thinking with commercial awareness, you’ll deliver accurate, strategic outcomes in a fast-paced environment.

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting
  • CAANZ (or equivalent) qualification 
  • Proven experience in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial strategy 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and build relationships at all levels 
  • Strong financial modelling and analytical skills, with advanced proficiency in Excel 
  • Experience with financial tools and ERP systems TM1 and Power BI
  • Ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining accuracy
