Description

At Golden Bay Cement, we’ve been helping shape Aotearoa New Zealand for over 100 years. As the country’s only cement manufacturer, we play a vital role in building homes, infrastructure, and communities — with a growing focus on sustainability, innovation, and lower‑carbon solutions.

We’re seeking a Finance Business Partner to join our Portland‑based team. This role is all about connection — partnering closely with our operations, supply chain, and commercial teams to provide thoughtful financial insight that supports confident decision‑making.

A key focus will be supporting our expanding alternative fuels programme, along with inventory management and commercial reporting.

What you’ll be doing

  • Partner collaboratively with operational teams to provide clear, practical financial insight
  • Development of robust costing, and reporting for our growing alternative fuels, ensuring process controls are in place to ensure data integrity.
  • Support inventory management, reviewing and improving current processes to drive efficiencies within the business. This includes variance analysis, reconciliations, and SLOB reporting.
  • Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and overhead cost tracking
  • Share insights that help improve performance and build commercial capability across the business
  • Support ad‑hoc analysis, projects, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Champion safe, healthy, and sustainable ways of working

What you’ll bring

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Commerce and CA qualification (or working towards)
  • Around 3+ years’ experience in financial analysis or management accounting
  • Confidence working with operational stakeholders and translating numbers into meaningful stories
  • Strong Excel and financial modelling capability; PowerPoint skills for clear communication
  • A thoughtful, organised approach with a focus on Continuous improvement and care for how decisions affect people and outcomes.
  • Experience in manufacturing or complex operational environments is helpful, but not essential

Why join us

  • Be part of a values‑led organisation committed to sustainability and innovation
  • Supportive, inclusive team culture where collaboration is genuinely encouraged
  • Opportunities to grow your commercial influence and broaden your experience
  • Competitive salary, enhanced parental leave, wellbeing support, and Fletcher Building benefits
  • The chance to contribute to work that truly matters for New Zealand’s future

At Golden Bay , we welcome diverse perspectives and encourage applications from people who may not meet every requirement but feel excited by the role. If you enjoy partnering, problem‑solving, and making a positive impact, we’d love to hear from you.

Research shows that females and minority groups don’t apply for roles unless they match 100% the job description.

We are proud of your diversity and see it as one of the things that make us stronger. We welcome your individuality and encourage you to bring your true self to work, so if this role is of interest but you feel you don’t fit it, we would still love you to apply.
