About the Role
At PlaceMakers, finance is about more than understanding what happened. It's about helping our leaders make better decisions about what comes next.

As Finance Business Partner, you'll partner with our Support Office functions, providing the commercial insight and financial guidance that helps shape business performance. You'll work alongside senior leaders to understand what's driving results, evaluate investment opportunities, improve productivity, and ensure resources are directed to where they'll create the greatest value.

Reporting to the Head of Financial Planning & Analysis, you'll combine strong analytical capability with commercial judgement to challenge thinking, identify opportunities and influence decisions across one of New Zealand's largest building products and distribution businesses.

What you'll be doing
  • Partner with senior leaders across our Support Office functions, providing commercial advice and financial insight to support better decision-making.
  • Lead the budgeting, forecasting and planning processes for your portfolio, delivering accurate and meaningful financial information.
  • Champion our TM1 forecasting process and consolidation of results across the business
  • Analyse business performance, identify trends and clearly communicate the commercial drivers behind the numbers.
  • Develop robust business cases and evaluate investment opportunities to support informed decision-making.
  • Challenge assumptions and identify opportunities to improve productivity, optimise costs and maximise return on investment.
  • Translate complex financial information into clear, practical recommendations that support business outcomes.
  • Build strong relationships and improve financial capability across the functions you support.
  • Maintain strong financial governance, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, policies and internal controls.

This is a permanent, full-time role based at our Support Office in Penrose, Auckland.

About You

You're confident working with senior stakeholders, comfortable challenging assumptions when needed, and able to translate financial information into practical advice that influences decision-making. You enjoy working in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same and where your work has a direct impact on business performance.

You'll also bring:
  • CA ANZ (or equivalent) qualification.
  • A tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting or a related discipline.
  • Experience in a Finance Business Partner, FP&A or other commercially focused finance role.
  • Strong experience in budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling and performance analysis.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with planning and reporting tools such as TM1, Power BI or similar.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong commercial acumen and the ability to turn financial data into practical business insight.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

Experience partnering with corporate or support functions within a large or complex organisation will be highly regarded.

We offer:
  • Competitive remuneration.
  • Staff buying privileges and a range of employee benefits.
  • Career development opportunities across the Fletcher Building Group.
  • Employee Education Fund – investing in your and your family’s education.
  • Health and wellbeing initiatives, including an Employee Assistance Programme.
