Description

Higgins Hamilton have secured an exciting new contract - the Waikato District Council northern road maintenance and renewals contract. Due to this, our team is growing, and we are seeking a Heavy Maintenance Foreperson to join the Green Team now, ready for project kick off in July 2025.

The contract covers North Waikato from Huntly to Pōkeno and includes maintenance of a comprehensive network of approximately 1200km of sealed and unsealed roads including rural and coastal areas.

Based in Rangiriri, you will be responsible for leading a crew who look after heavy maintenance works including stabilised pavement repairs, dig outs, drainage work, concrete works, structural maintenance and repair, slip removal/repairs, minor earthworks, unsealed road renewals and some minor works construction. 

What you’ll bring to the role: 
  • Appropriate licences (Class 2 + WTR) 
  • The ability to operate a range of civil engineering and roading plant is a must
  • Experience working within road construction and ideally maintenance operations
  • Experience in leading and motivating a team
  • Willing to be hands on and support your team with a variety of tasks
  • Suitable TTM accreditation and First Aid desirable 
  • Must be available to work on an on-call roster 
  • Able to reach the job site within 60 minutes for any call-outs 
  • Familiarity with RAMM is beneficial 
  • Strong focus on health and safety not only for yourself, your colleagues but also the public
