Description

Are you ready to make a significant impact on a transformative project? Fletcher Construction is seeking a talented and innovative Foreperson to join our team for Te Wai Takamori o Te Awa Kairangi (Te Awa Kairangi).

About the Role

This role leads the day-to-day delivery of retaining wall works on a major civil project. You’ll coordinate crews, plant, and subcontract partners on site, while keeping quality, safety, and programme front of mind. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys being close to the work, solving site challenges, and keeping things moving smoothly.

  • Lead retaining wall construction activities from setup to completion
  • Coordinate site teams, subcontract partners, and plant resources
  • Manage site safety, environmental controls, and quality requirements
  • Track progress against programme and address issues early
  • Maintain accurate daily records for labour, plant, materials, and events
  • Work closely with supervisors, engineers, and project leaders

What you’ll bring to the role

  • Solid experience leading civil construction works, including retaining walls
  • Confidence coordinating people, plant, and multiple work fronts
  • Strong understanding of site safety, risk management, and quality systems
  • Ability to plan ahead, set priorities, and adapt to changing conditions
  • Clear communication style and a collaborative approach on site
  • Trade qualification and a full New Zealand driver licence

About Us

We pride ourselves on safely delivering a wide variety of construction and infrastructure projects for the people of New Zealand and the South Pacific. But our power is not in what we do, it’s in who we are. We are a team of 3,700 people working under three brands: Fletcher Construction, Higgins, and Brian Perry Civil. We may be a big team, but we haven’t lost sight of what really matters: looking after our people.

We recognise that treating our people well is only partially about what happens during work hours. It’s also about the impact we have outside of work hours too. That’s why we have incredible learning and development opportunities for staff and their families, industry-leading parental leave, support systems and generous corporate discounts.

So, if this role is of interest but you feel you don’t quite fit, we encourage you to apply anyway. We are enriched by many nationalities, languages, religions, customs, and lifestyles. We are proud of our diversity and see it as one of the things that make us better together.
