Foreperson - Civil Construction / Roading - Wellington

Our Wellington team is looking for an experienced and motivated Foreperson to lead daily site operations across our civil and roading projects. Whether you’re already in a Foreperson role or a Leading Hand ready to step up, this is a great opportunity to grow your career with Higgins.


What you’ll be doing
  • Leading and supervising operators, labourers, subcontractors, and labour hire staff
  • Planning daily activities and organising plant, materials, and resources
  • Running pre-starts, toolbox talks, hazard IDs, and safety checks
  • Ensuring work meets specifications, quality standards, and H&S requirements
  • Completing daily documentation, reporting, and site records
  • Supporting, coaching, and developing your team
  • Operating plant and equipment when required
  • Maintaining strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and stakeholders

What you’ll bring
  • 5+ years’ civil/roading experience with leadership exposure
  • Strong knowledge of earthworks, pavement construction, drainage, or general civil works
  • Ability to read plans, understand specifications, and organise work effectively
  • Solid understanding of QA processes and health & safety requirements
  • Good communication skills and a proactive, solutions-focused attitude
  • WTR and Class 1–4 licences (essential)
  • First Aid (essential), STMS (desirable)
  • Experience coordinating crews, subcontractors, and resources
