We’re looking for a skilled General Engineer to join our growing team at Specialised Engineering Services, based in Palmerston North. If you’re passionate about engineering and enjoy working on a wide variety of projects, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
About the Role
As a General Engineer, you’ll be involved in a diverse range of work including:
- Fabrication using stainless and carbon steel
- Maintenance and repair of trailers and bulk tank machinery
- Building new plant and machinery for the bitumen transportation and application industry

What You’ll Bring
- National Certificate in General Engineering or Fabrication (Light or Heavy) – L4
- Experience with mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- Welding certification to AS/NZS ISO 9606.1:2017 (advantageous)
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in general or fabrication engineering
- Full, clean Class 1 NZ driver’s licence (Class 2, forklift, and Dangerous Goods endorsements are a plus)
- Proven skills in tank and trailer fabrication, MIG/TIG welding (stainless and aluminium), fitting, and assembly
- Strong commitment to health and safety—for yourself, your team, and the public
