Description

Careers Made Possible at Brian Perry Civil
Ready to take the next step in your career? Join a team that thrives on collaboration and bold thinking, delivering complex civil projects that shape communities and protect environments. Here, your ideas matter, your growth is supported, and your work leaves a lasting impact.

About the Role

As a Geotechnical Engineer in our Ground Engineering team, you’ll work across concept and detailed design, helping shape practical ground‑engineering solutions for projects throughout Aotearoa. You’ll be part of a collaborative in‑house design group that values curiosity, clear thinking, and supporting each other to do meaningful work.

  • Develop pile designs, temporary works designs, and construction methodologies from early concept through to delivery
  • Prepare design documentation that meets project specifications, industry standards, and internal quality processes before issuing IFC drawings
  • Support technical tender documentation when alternative permanent works are proposed, outlining rationale and design differences clearly
  • Work closely with Project, New Business, and site teams to ensure designs are buildable, safe, and well‑integrated with delivery requirements
  • When based on site, provide design expertise without taking over project engineers’ temporary works responsibilities, ensuring clarity of roles and safe processes
  • Build constructive working relationships across engineering disciplines, suppliers, and reviewers to deliver coordinated and practical design solutions

What You’ll Bring

  • Tertiary qualification in engineering and working towards CPEng
  • Experience in geotechnical or ground‑engineering design, including temporary works and/or foundation design (NZ experience beneficial)
  • Familiarity with relevant structural and geotechnical analysis software, standards, and design processes
  • Ability to communicate clearly with colleagues across disciplines and at different stages of the project lifecycle
  • A thoughtful, methodical approach to assessing options, identifying risks, and proposing practical solutions
  • Capability to manage and organise your own design workflow, coordinating inputs from other designers and specialists as required
  • A collaborative mindset — someone who listens well, shares knowledge, and contributes to a fair and inclusive team culture
