Description

At Firth, we’re proud to be shaping the foundations of Aotearoa’s infrastructure. As part of Fletcher Building, we combine decades of expertise with a forward-thinking approach to sustainable construction solutions. Our teams work closely together to deliver consistent, high-quality concrete products that support communities and create lasting impact.

We believe in growing people as much as we grow our business—offering supportive environments where curiosity, collaboration, and continuous learning are encouraged.

Based in Wellington, this is an excellent opportunity for an emerging engineer to begin their career within a structured graduate programme. Working closely with an experienced Senior Materials Engineer, you’ll contribute to concrete mix design, quality assurance, and on-site support—while building confidence and capability in a supportive, team-focused environment.

You’ll play a meaningful role in ensuring product quality, supporting customers, and strengthening relationships across operations, sales, and technical teams.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Supporting the design, testing, and verification of concrete mixes to meet project requirements
  • Assisting with site testing and critical pours to ensure quality and compliance
  • Helping investigate test results, non-conformances, and customer queries with a solutions-focused approach
  • Collaborating with plant teams, technicians, and stakeholders to maintain standards and improve processes
  • Contributing to accurate reporting, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Coaching and supporting others to strengthen quality practices and consistency

What You’ll Bring

  • A degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Materials Science, or a related discipline
  • An interest in concrete technology, quality assurance, or materials engineering
  • Strong analytical thinking and a thoughtful, detail-oriented approach
  • Clear communication skills and a collaborative working style
  • A willingness to learn, grow, and contribute positively to a supportive team environment
  • Any exposure to concrete testing, production, or NZ standards is advantageous

Why Join Firth?

  • Structured graduate development programme with clear progression pathways
  • Coaching, mentoring, and hands-on learning opportunities
  • A collaborative culture focused on inclusion, respect, and shared success
  • Opportunities to work on meaningful infrastructure projects across New Zealand
  • Competitive salary, employee benefits, and access to Fletcher Building group opportunities

Our Values

We’re guided by values that prioritise care, integrity, and continuous improvement—creating an environment where people feel supported to do their best work and grow together.
