Description

Shape our region. Support our people. Influence our future.

Firth is New Zealand’s leading supplier of ready‑mix concrete, masonry and related products, proud to support some of the country’s most important residential, commercial and infrastructure projects.

As part of the Fletcher Building Group, we bring together national scale, strong local relationships and a genuine commitment to building better, together.

We’re looking for a Head of Lower North Island to join our senior leadership team — a pivotal role with full accountability for performance across Taranaki, Manawatū and Wellington.

This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference: guiding our people, strengthening customer partnerships, and shaping the region’s contribution to our national success.

The role
Reporting to the General Manager – Firth, this role provides inclusive, end‑to‑end leadership of our sales and operational teams across a wide geographic region.

Your focus will span safety, people, customer outcomes, operational performance and financial results — ensuring our strategy is translated into thoughtful, consistent and effective delivery. You’ll nurture a collaborative, values‑driven leadership culture and support your team to grow, develop and succeed.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Leading overall regional performance, including P&L and operational outcomes
  • Supporting and developing leaders across a geographically dispersed sales and operations network
  • Building a safe, engaged and high‑performing culture
  • Growing long‑term customer and supplier relationships built on trust and partnership
  • Advocating for continuous improvement and sustainable performance
  • Contributing to national strategy and decision‑making as part of Firth’s senior leadership group
This is a role with real scope to influence — offering autonomy, connection with committed teams, and the chance to be part of shaping Firth’s next chapter.

About you
You’re a collaborative, people‑focused senior leader with experience in construction materials, heavy manufacturing or a related industrial environment.

You’ll bring a steady, inclusive leadership style and the ability to support your teams through growth, change and complexity.
You are likely to have:
  • Senior leadership experience in a large, operationally complex business
  • Accountability for regional or multi‑site performance, including full P&L responsibility
  • Experience leading leaders across both operations and sales
  • Confidence navigating a wide range of stakeholders — from frontline teams and unions to major customers
  • A thoughtful, values‑led approach to decision‑making, resilience and strategic delivery
Most importantly, you bring a genuine interest in enabling people to do their best work, creating clarity of direction and building strong, long‑term outcomes.

Why join Firth?
  • A meaningful senior leadership role with the opportunity to shape regional and national outcomes
  • A supportive senior team and strong handover to set you up for success
  • The backing of Fletcher Building, with a focus on values, wellbeing and safety
  • Relocation support available for the right candidate
