Description

Looking for a role where you can take on complex challenges, grow your skills, and be part of something bigger? At Brian Perry Civil, we’re shaping careers, communities, and the future of NZ Infrastructure - this is your chance to make a real impact.

About the Role

We’re looking for a practical, people-focused HSE Advisor to support our Southern Region projects. This role is about being visible on-site, coaching teams, and ensuring our safety and environmental systems are not just compliant but effective and respected. You’ll work closely with frontline leaders, subcontractors, and stakeholders to embed best practice and drive continuous improvement.

This is a fixed term role through to 30 June 2027.

  • Coach site teams to identify and manage health, safety, and environmental risks
  • Conduct site inspections, audits, and support corrective actions
  • Lead incident investigations and support rehabilitation processes
  • Coordinate emergency preparedness and response across sites
  • Support subcontractor safety management and compliance
  • Build strong relationships with regulatory bodies, iwi site monitors, and environmental consultants

What You’ll Bring

  • A qualification in Occupational Health & Safety (e.g. NEBOSH, NZ Certificate)
  • 5+ years’ experience in health and safety, ideally in construction or infrastructure
  • Strong working knowledge of NZ HSE legislation, ACC, and HSNO
  • Experience with environmental risk management and stakeholder engagement
  • Skilled communicator who listens, simplifies, and gets buy-in
  • Resilience, initiative, and the ability to navigate ambiguity with clarity

About Us

At Brian Perry Civil, part of the Fletcher Building Group, we’re specialists in ground engineering and civil construction, delivering some of the most complex and technically challenging projects across New Zealand and the South Pacific. From foundations and marine works to three waters infrastructure, our work goes beyond construction - we’re shaping communities, protecting environments, and building a legacy of innovation.  We thrive on bold thinking, collaboration, and a commitment to safety and sustainability.

We are actively looking to fill this role and encourage your early application. Applications are reviewed regularly, and we reserve the right to remove the advertisement before the advertised closing date.

Research shows that females and minority groups don’t always apply for roles unless they match 100% of the requirements. So, if this role is of interest but you feel you don’t quite fit, we encourage you to apply anyway. We are enriched by many nationalities, languages, religions, customs, and lifestyles. We are proud of our diversity and see it as one of the things that make us better together.
