Humes are looking for an experienced H&S advisor to join them at the Christchurch, Hornby site and be a key element in their safety hustle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide front-line H&S advice and champion H & S activities at Humes in conjunction with managers, team leaders, assistant team leaders, team members and H&S colleagues towards ensuring that Humes’ H&S objectives are met.
  • Actively support the implementation and integration of business-wide and site-based Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) programmes to encourage and foster a proactive and interdependent safety culture
  • Participate in risk identification, perform safety audits and promote continuous improvement of EHS
  • Support Site Management with SOP reviews and identification of risks based on operational standards, activities and processes
  • Implementation and maintenance of site standards to meet ISO45001 requirements include certification
  • Ensure EHS activities and operations are conducted in compliance with applicable legislation, regulations, guidelines, and best practice

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Health and Safety Advisor, preferably within the construction or manufacturing industries.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Relevant qualifications in health and safety (e.g., NEBOSH, NZQA).
