Description

We’re looking for a caring, skilled Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our team in Hamilton. In this role, you’ll help keep our vehicles and machinery running safely and reliably so our teams and customers can do their best work.

You’ll work closely with our operations and workshop teams to:
  • Carry out high-quality servicing, maintenance, repairs and overhauls on diesel vehicles, heavy machinery and equipment used in concrete production and delivery
  • Safely raise vehicles, machinery and heavy components using approved lifting equipment
  • Inspect equipment to identify faults, wear or mechanical issues and complete diagnostics and breakdown repairs
  • Arrange, fit and install required parts and materials, ensuring work is completed safely and to Firth’s quality standards Maintain accurate job cards, repair notes and parts records, supporting clear communication with the team
  • Help keep the workshop tidy, organised and safe, and support general housekeeping and efficiency improvements
  • Health, safety and care for each other are central to how we work. You’ll actively follow our HSE practices and help create a safe, supportive environment for everyone on site.
You’ll be someone who enjoys working as part of a collaborative team and takes pride in doing things right first time. 
You will ideally have:
  • A trade qualification in Heavy Diesel Mechanics, Automotive Engineering (Heavy) or a recognised overseas equivalent
  • Proven experience with repairs, diagnostics, servicing and/or rebuilds on heavy diesel machinery
  • A strong focus on safety and quality, with a calm, solution-focused approach
  • Good organisational and communication skills, with the ability to keep others informed of progress
  • Willingness to support teammates and help out with other duties when needed, including learning and development activities
You must be legally eligible to work in New Zealand at the time you start, and you’ll need to complete a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
