Brian Perry Civil (BPC) is a specialist ground engineering and civil construction company delivering complex and technically challenging projects. • Junior Bid Writer
  • Permanent Full Time
  • Office Based - Penrose

You’ll become an integral part of our New Business Team, and your days will be filled with planning and writing to win tenders for the Brian Perry Civil Northern Region, New Business Team. You’ll bring your passion for writing and if you have any photography or graphic design skills, you’ll be able to put those to good use as well!  So, if you have a love for the written word, creating, plus also the desire to learn all about the complex and competitive construction industry, then this is a great opportunity for you to carve out a very special and niche career for yourself.

This role will support tender submissions by collating and developing response documents, plus supporting the wider business to put together other documentation including award submissions for projects and people, events collateral, social media updates, business case documents, and presentations – to name a few!

The key duties include:

  • Development of written content for bids / tenders – this will include collating content, researching, and writing project examples, creating compelling and tailored CVs to highlight the experience of our employees, and reviewing customer-supplied documentation and responding to customer feedback.
  • Assisting in developing key messages, style guides and storyboards for bids – this will include identifying potential win themes, supporting the Bid/Submissions Manager, facilitating internal workshops, and developing tools to aid communication.
  • Proposal and administration production – assisting with the document review process, assembly of all submission deliverables, reviewing, editing and proofreading of final content.
  • Management and maintenance of the bid library.

To be successful in this role you ideally have the following:

  • A strong command of language and good communication skills
  • A passion for writing and crafting compelling content.
  • You’ll have a desire to win and a competitive edge – you’ll be driven by the desire to meet deadlines and be the best to win the work.
  • You’ll be creative and enjoy not only the writing component but also have a natural interest in presentation and graphic design – basically, a great eye for what looks good.
  • You’ll have a personality that is engaging, affable, and collaborative as a lot of your role will involve working with others.
  • Accountable – you’ll be self-driven with a strong work ethic. You’ll learn from your mistakes and embrace constructive feedback.
  • Most of all, you’ll want to carve out a career in this area – with your sights on becoming a New Business or Bid Manager one day.
  • You’ll have a sound grasp of Microsoft Office – Word in particular – along with SharePoint and the Adobe Suite.
