Are you ready to bring your procurement expertise to the next level? PlaceMakers is seeking a Junior Category Manager to join our team. This role is based at our Support Office in Penrose, Auckland.

About the Role:

As a Junior Category Manager, you will be instrumental in supporting our Timber strategy and ensuring strong supplier partnerships, and executing high-quality category initiatives across the PlaceMakers network.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and manage category strategies to achieve sales and profit targets.

• Foster strong supplier relationships and exceptional internal stakeholder relationships.

• Drive strategic supply decisions to optimize commercial performance.

• Conduct market research to identify new or alternative product ranges and suppliers.

• Ensure all supplier agreements are in place, reviewed, and renewed.

• Regularly review competitive and comparable retail offers for continual learning and stimulation.

• Lead and develop the team with strong leadership, coaching, and development planning.

About You:

• Self-starter with a commitment to high performance and a passion for driving business success.

• Direct category or product management expertise, ideally in a retail or trade environment.

• Excellent analytical and organizational skills with keen attention to detail.

• Experience in strategic sourcing within a large and complex organization.

• Proven ability to develop promotional campaigns on a national scope.

• Highly effective influencing, negotiation, and persuasion skills.

• Knowledge of distribution, retail, and/or the building industry is desirable.
