A New Chapter Begins: Laboratory Technician Opportunity

We're excited to announce a brand-new opportunity for a dedicated and detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to join our team. This role is perfect for someone who thrives on ensuring product excellence and compliance, with a passion for continuous improvement and innovation.


Your Role

As our new Laboratory Technician, you'll be responsible for monitoring the performance compliance of Laminex products and undertaking testing to support new product and process opportunities. Your work will inform technical and feasibility decisions, achieve CARB certification, perform competitor product benchmarking, and validate product fault claims.

  • Quality Assurance: Operate within a quality system that meets ISO/IEC 17025 requirements for NATA accreditation.
  • Comprehensive Testing: Perform mechanical and chemical tests according to AS/NZS, ISO, JIS, NEMA, and EN Standards.
  • CARB Compliance: Conduct testing and reporting within the CARB Formaldehyde program.
  • Collaboration: Liaise with key internal stakeholders to facilitate quality assurance and research.
  • Reporting: Standardise formal reporting of product fault claims, quality assurance, and validation testing.
  • Wellbeing: Prioritise wellbeing to drive high performance.
  • Continuous Improvement: Take the initiative to grow and develop skills and knowledge, both individually and as a team.
  • Flexibility: Manage tasks effectively while being adaptable to take on other duties as assigned.

We're Looking for Someone Who:
  • Has tertiary qualifications in Science or Engineering with Chemistry or Materials disciplines.
  • Possesses knowledge of laboratory systems and process control activities critical to maintaining NATA accreditation.
  • Demonstrates outstanding Microsoft Excel skills, critical thinking, problem-solving, and meticulous planning.
  • Exhibits strong communication and interpersonal skills, building team cohesion and cooperation.
  • Maintains an objective mindset, initiates action, and drives for results.
  • Has troubleshooting skills and effective time management.

Experience and Personal Attributes:
  • 1-2 years’ experience in similar roles with a manufacturing and operations focus.
  • Knowledge of the building products industry or other manufacturing environments.
  • Experience in reporting and presenting to all levels of business management.
  • Maintenance of auditable systems and certifications (e.g., ISO 9001 & NATA certification schemes).
  • Strong safety focus, continuous improvement mindset, agile thinking, active listening, and being a team player.
  • Practical and logical thinker with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work under pressure and exceptional time management skills.
