About the Role

We’re looking for a Leading Hand Drainlayer to join our team at Brian Perry Civil. You’ll lead a small crew on civil pipeline construction projects, ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.

Lead and motivate a small team on drainage and pipeline construction projects
Plan daily tasks and liaise with foreman to ensure resources are ready
Operate and oversee plant and equipment, including WTR machinery
Maintain strict adherence to health and safety standards and site procedures
Communicate clearly with your team and site leadership to meet project targets
Support problem-solving and quality control throughout project deliver

What You’ll Bring

Certified Drainlayer, with proven skills in mains pipeline construction for civil projects
Ability to operate a range of mobile plant and small tools, with current WTR endorsement
Understanding of trench shoring, dewatering, and safe excavation practices
A clean, full NZ driver licence – ideally Class 2 or 4
Experience leading small teams to deliver quality outcomes safely and efficiently
Strong civil construction background, ideally with large contractors or water authorities
Flexibility to adapt to changing site conditions and solve problems effectively
Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all weather
