We manufacture and procure a broad range of products for commercial and residential use such as laminate, engineered stone and veneers so that all Australians can live in beautiful, practical spaces. 

The position we are ready to fill:

A rare position has come up for an experienced Maintenance Electrician to join Laminex's Cheltenham manufacturing facility. Reporting to the Reliability Leader we have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Maintenance Electrician at our Cheltenham site.  

In this role you will be responsible for maintaining the plant and equipment. This will be achieved by ongoing routine maintenance and checks, identifying and attending to defective equipment and responding to electrical breakdowns. You will be part of a supportive team environment with a proactive approach to ensuring that the workforce’s health & safety is the number one priority at all times.

This will initially be a standard days shift position, 6am - 2.30pm Mon-Fri with the view to be promoted into the 12-hour shift once competent in the role. You MUST be willing and able to stay on dayshift or possibly move to rotating shift. 

12 hour roster details: day and night shift rotating position with 12 hour shifts, Sunday - Monday, and includes a mixture of 2/2 and 4/4. 6am-6pm, 6pm-6am. Minimum 8 hours over time per fortnight. 15% shift allowance applied to day and night shift.

While the view is for the successful candidate to graduate into the 12 hour role, this is not guaranteed and will be dependent on performance and Laminex needs. 

In this role you will:
  • Provide immediate break down support
  • Achieve and maintain a high standard of housekeeping
  • Report all injuries, incidents, hazards and near misses, regardless of severity
  • Complete quality assurance testing and recording  
  • Efficient and effective fault finding to diagnose and repair plant outages in a timely manner.
  • Prioritise jobs to achieve high plant availability and in accordance with instructions from maintenance and production supervisors
  • Develop and maintain positive work relationships within the team

The successful candidate will possess the following skills and experience:
  • Current “A” Grade electrical license issued by energy safe Victoria
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing and/or industrial environment 
  • Experience in maintenance fault finding using PLC and Relay Logic
  • Knowledge of control systems including Allan Bradley
  • Good knowledge of AC drives
  • An understanding and exposure to Lean Manufacturing principals would be highly regarded
  • Track record in sound planning / forecasting skills with a good understanding of CMMS – MEX preferred
  • Current forklift licence would be advantageous
  • EWP and Boom lift licence would be advantageous
