The role

We are seeking a Mechanical Fitter to join our maintenance team. You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of sawmill machinery, conducting repairs, and performing preventative maintenance to minimize downtime. Located near Kerikeri in the sunny Bay of Islands, the full-time job offers a rotating rostered shift that guarantees 4 day weekends every fortnight!

Hours are:

Shift One: Mon-Thurs 1pm to 11:30pm.

Shift Two: Tues-Fri 6am to 4.30pm and Saturdays 6 am-2.30pm.

Saturdays are paid at time and a half.

Key Responsibilities:

Diagnose and repair mechanical faults in sawmill equipment
Conduct routine maintenance and inspections
Install and upgrade machinery as required
Work collaboratively with the maintenance and production teams
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations

What We’re Looking For:

Trade qualification in Mechanical Fitting.
Experience in sawmill or heavy industrial environments (preferred).
A working knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems with an ability to read schematic drawing.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Forklift OSH or F Endorsement.
Must be comfortable working at heights.
Commitment to workplace safety.
