The Role:
Laminex is seeking a seasoned Team Leader to enhance operational effectiveness at our Cheltenham, Victoria site. In this role, you will lead a team of Production Operators and champion the Laminex Operational Excellence journey over a transformative 5-year period. Reporting to the Operations Support Lead, the successful candidate will embody resilience and thrive on team development, multi-skilling, and driving employee engagement. This frontline leader role is ideal for an individual with future leadership aspirations who can influence our culture to achieve a safety-first, continuous improvement mindset for all individuals at all times.

Shift Patterns:
All positions will be on 24/5 roster.

The loading will 15% across day/night which is 6am – 6pm or 6pm to 6am.

Monday – Friday

11.4 x 15% loading + 0.6 x ROT2 (0.6 x double time).

Sunday night for 6pm to 6am will be paid as 6 hours double time + 5.4 x 15% loading + 0.6ROT2 (0.6 x double time)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide the shift interface between management and waged employees.
  • Ensure commitment to and enforcement of site safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Proactively promote safety by working with employees to minimise risks and conduct Toolbox Talks on a regular/as-needed basis.
  • Lead the workforce through both planned operations and unexpected disruptions by coordinating staffing and support services (e.g., maintenance), communicating with relevant personnel, and ensuring everyone stays focused on key priorities and goals.
  • Ensure all production recording is completed accurately and on time. Ensure quality checks are validated.
  • Seek opportunities to improve productivity and cost reduction.

About You:
The ideal candidate will have:

  • Frontline leadership experience preferably in a production/maintenance environment.
  • High level of literacy & communication skills, both verbal and oral.
  • Excellent computer skills.

You are an individual who leads by example, setting the expectations for safe operations, whilst prioritising quality and achievement of daily KPIs. You enjoy “coaching” people to achieve better decisions and prioritise collaboration with stakeholders (e.g. Maintenance, Technical, your team) before having the confidence to make a final decision. You understand the importance of effective communication at all levels and pride yourself on ensuring fact-based interactions. You have a problem-solving mindset and support your team to resolve issues within their “circle of control”, rather than waiting for “someone else” to provide a solution. Finally, you understand the importance and benefit of multi-skilled, unified teams who are willing and able to rotate and have a go – you understand the importance of working with each individual to ensure their learning journey has the right support.

Perks & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Opportunities for career development and progression.
  • Access to employee discounts and wellness programs.
  • Market leading paid-parental leave policy (26 weeks at full pay or 52 weeks at half pay).
