The Role
Winstone Wallboards, home of GIB® plasterboard, is looking for a motivated Mechanical Apprentice to join our Tauranga Maintenance team. This is an outstanding opportunity to earn while you learn, gain hands-on experience in a large manufacturing environment, and work towards becoming a qualified Maintenance Fitter. Reporting to the Mechanical Maintenance Manager, you'll support the maintenance team in keeping our plant running safely and efficiently. Your role will include:
  • Assisting with preventative and breakdown maintenance on plant and equipment
  • Supporting planned maintenance shutdowns
  • Learning fault-finding and problem-solving techniques
  • Maintaining accurate maintenance records through MEX work orders
  • Ensuring workshop tools and equipment are maintained and stored correctly
  • Working safely and actively contributing to our strong safety culture
  • Completing all apprenticeship training and study requirements while applying your learning on site. 

About You

  • Minimum NCEA L2 or a pre-trade qualification (preferred)
  • Have a genuine interest in mechanical engineering and maintenance
  • Enjoy problem-solving and working with their hands

  • Are eager to learn, adaptable and resilient.
