Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a National Asphalt Paving Operations Manager to join Higgins.  In this role, you will provide leadership and support nationally to ensure effective delivery of asphalt operations across all our branches and projects. 

This role offers a diverse range of responsibilities with a broad scope. You will be supporting the Higgins regions from a national level and will be involved in a variety of works including large pavement construction projects, Airports & Port works and road maintenance. The Higgins business paves approximately 400,000 tonnes per annum of Asphalt with 12 Asphalt Paving crews across NZ and Fiji, we continue to grow, and you will be a key to this success. 

You will also have a focus on training and development to enhance capability and expand technical knowledge across the teams. Providing support when required to the bid teams, with technical advice on constructability, construction sequencing, supply chains, technical skills, and efficiency in paving operations. 

This role can be located at any of our offices in New Zealand and will require travel to provide in region support. 

What you’ll bring to the role:
  • Minimum of 10 years Asphalt Paving experience with 5+ years in a senior role within the Asphalt industry 
  • Confident in managing complex projects and supporting operations with effective technical solutions.
  • Proven experience planning and organising to achieve maximum utilisation of plant, labour and materials and ability to apply this on a national scale. 
  • Hands on experience managing financial performance including cost management, monthly reporting and analysis (results / profit & loss)
  • Proven experience in effective job pricing including materials, labour and plant and associated margin / profit calculations.
  • Experience developing capability within teams and coaching line leaders. 
  • Relevant Tertiary/Trade Qualifications
  • A high level of knowledge and commitment to operational health and safety best practice
  • Knowledge of NZ Asphalt Specifications and compliance
  • Technical knowledge of Asphalt Design to work alongside the Higgins Technical Team 
  • Knowledge around Asphalt Plant/Production.
