Description

Laminex Australia is one of the country’s most established and respected manufacturing brands, operating an integrated national network of manufacturing and distribution sites. Backed by a strong market position and a significant capital investment program, Laminex is entering a defining phase—focused on driving performance, lifting returns, and embedding a step-change in commercial discipline across the enterprise.

We are seeking an exceptional commercial executive to join the senior leadership team in a CFO-equivalent Commercial Manager role, with enterprise-wide accountability for financial performance, capital discipline and value creation.

The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the General Manager, this is a pivotal leadership role with full accountability for shaping and delivering Laminex’s commercial agenda across a complex, capital-intensive manufacturing environment.

You will lead and integrate core commercial functions at scale, including:

  • Financial Control, FP&A and performance management
  • Procurement and strategic sourcing
  • Pricing strategy, governance and margin optimisation

More than functional oversight, this role is about owning enterprise value outcomes—driving a step-change in performance and embedding commercial rigour across every part of the business.

What You Will Deliver

You will be measured on your ability to materially improve business performance and position Laminex for sustained, disciplined growth. Key outcomes include:

  • Sustainable EBIT and cash flow expansion through rigorous cost, pricing and capital management
  • Step-change in ROIC performance, underpinned by disciplined capital allocation and investment governance
  • Margin recovery and structural cost reset across a multi-site manufacturing footprint
  • End-to-end procurement optimisation and supplier value realisation at scale
  • Advanced pricing capability and governance, improving yield and market responsiveness
  • Executive-level insight and decision support, transforming data into actionable commercial intelligence

This role also plays a critical leadership part in major capital programs, digitisation initiatives, automation and joint venture governance, requiring strong enterprise influence and the ability to align multiple stakeholders to a unified commercial strategy.

About You

You are a proven enterprise leader, with experience operating at (or immediately below) C-suite level within large, multi-site industrial or manufacturing businesses.

You bring:

  • A track record of leading large-scale transformation in complex, capital-intensive environments
  • Deep understanding of manufacturing, supply chain and distribution value levers
  • Demonstrated success delivering major capital investment programs from business case through to execution and return realisation
  • Exceptional commercial acumen, with the ability to translate operational performance into enterprise value creation

Critically, you operate with an owner’s mindset:

  • Relentless focus on cash, returns and capital efficiency
  • Bias for decisive, high-impact decision making in complex environments
  • Confidence to challenge, influence and align senior executive stakeholders
  • Strong governance discipline paired with commercial pragmatism

Your leadership style is authentic, highly credible and outcome-driven, with the presence to operate effectively at Executive and Board level.

Relevant tertiary qualifications in Finance, Accounting or a related discipline are essential; postgraduate qualifications (MBA/CPA/CA) are highly regarded.

Why This Role Matters

This is not a traditional functional leadership role. This is a business-critical mandate to:

  • Reset and elevate commercial performance
  • Influence strategic direction and capital allocation
  • Embed a high-performance, commercially disciplined culture
  • Deliver measurable shareholder value across a national industrial footprint

It offers scale, complexity and genuine enterprise impact—with the opportunity to shape the future of one of Australia’s most recognised manufacturing businesses.
