Description

As one of Australia’s leading manufacturers and suppliers of roll-formed steel building products, you’ll see us on the roofs of iconic buildings and stadiums across the country. Our doors and panels open many commercial and residential builds.

We’re on a growth journey—big enough to offer the scale and support of a national network, small enough to know our customers by name. We get the job done right, every time—no matter how complex.

Values based

We know great people get things done. We believe all injuries are preventable and we never walk past—we speak up and take action. Our people share ideas, have a go, and create practical solutions for our customers. We’re committed to fostering a culture where everyone feels safe—physically and psychologically—to contribute and thrive.

The role

We’re looking for a hands-on National EHS Manager who will make safety a lived reality—every day, at every site. You’ll lead our Zero Harm strategy across Australia, partnering with leaders and Safety Leadership Teams to minimise risk, strengthen compliance, and lift performance. You’ll also lead our environmental and sustainability goals, ensuring we operate responsibly for our people, our communities, and the planet.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide strategic leadership for our national safety and wellbeing agenda, ensuring every site is aligned with our vision and standards.
  • Champion continuous improvement by elevating our safety systems and guiding the business toward best-practice accreditation.
  • Oversee and mentor high-level incident reviews, ensuring that learnings are embedded and corrective actions drive meaningful change.
  • Partner with senior leaders to proactively identify and manage business risks, ensuring robust controls and high standards in contractor management.
  • Build organisational capability by setting the direction for safety training, leadership development, and a culture of accountability—including psychological safety.
  • Monitor and report on safety performance at the executive level, ensuring transparency, compliance, and progress against our strategic goals.
  • Support the wellbeing and recovery of our people, working closely with Health & Injury Management to facilitate effective return-to-work outcomes.
  • Lead critical safety projects and national initiatives, fostering engagement and a shared commitment to Zero Harm.
  • Develop and lead to our environmental and sustainability initiatives, helping us meet our responsibilities to the environment and future generations.

About you

You’re a confident, pragmatic safety professional who can engage from the shop floor to the executive table and turn strategy into action.

You’ll bring:

  • Degree in a relevant discipline (safety/environment focus preferred).
  • Deep knowledge of WHS legislation, Australian Standards and SWA Codes of Practice; strong working knowledge of supply chain & Chain of Responsibility (COR).
  • Proven EHS leadership across manufacturing or logistics, preferably multi-site, national environments.
  • ICAM lead investigator capability; Lead Auditor in safety, environment and/or quality.
  • Strength in training, coaching and behavioural safety programs.
  • Practical project management and the ability to prioritise risk-based initiatives.
  • A commitment to fostering both physical and psychological safety in the workplace.

Why join Stramit?

  • Impact at scale: Shape the safety culture across a national footprint.
  • Supportive leadership: Work with senior leaders who value Zero Harm and action.
  • Real outcomes: See your work reflected in safer people, stronger systems, and better performance.
  • Sustainability focus: Play a part in our journey towards responsible and sustainable operations.
