About the Role
Following the retirement of our long-serving National Rural Manager, we’re looking for a strategic and hands-on leader to take ownership of our rural segment which is a cornerstone of our business. You’ll lead a team of experienced sales professionals, develop and execute the rural sales strategy, and work closely with key customers to strengthen Iplex’s market presence, deliver technical value, and align with business goals.  

Key responsibilities include:
  • Lead and manage a team of experienced Territory Managers while developing and executing a rural sales strategy that aligns with business objectives and market insights. 
  • Protecting and growing market share, forecasting demand, and driving new business development.
  • Oversee sales forecasting, budgeting, and reporting to ensure targets are met. 
  • Provide technical expertise and insights across the rural segment, supporting for farm surveying, farm design, and product selection to ensure tailored solutions in the rural segment.
  • Build strong customer relationships and deliver tailored value propositions. 
  • Contribute to marketing decisions including product mix, pricing, and channel strategy. 
  • Support project delivery and tender management to meet customer expectations. 
  • Ensure consistent use of sales tools and frameworks (e.g. CRM, account planning, call cycles).

What You’ll Bring
  • Proven experience in rural infrastructure, including irrigation, water management, agricultural supply, or drainage systems, with a strong understanding of rural New Zealand operations and its market needs.
  • Strong commercial acumen and a proactive, hands-on leadership style. 
  • Relevant qualification (e.g. commerce or business) with a solid background in commercial sales. 
  • Demonstrated success in developing and executing sales strategies and applying best-practice sales principles. 
  • Broad experience across forecasting, pricing, CRM, account planning, and negotiation. 
  • Excellent team management skills, with experience leading and developing high-performing, experienced sales teams. 
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities. 
  • Customer-focused mindset with the ability to make data-driven decisions and drive performance.
