Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a People & Performance Business Partner to join Higgins in the Auckland Region.

As the dedicated P&P partner for the region, you'll work closely with the Region Manager and Senior Leadership Team, providing trusted advice and support across all aspects of the employee lifecycle.

We're looking for someone who is passionate about developing leaders, building capability, and creating high-performing teams. With strong commercial acumen and HR expertise, you'll coach and influence leaders, guide effective people decisions, and help shape a positive and high-performing culture across the region.

You'll lead and support initiatives across employee relations, talent management, organisational development, workforce planning, remuneration, people strategy, systems and analytics, while championing diversity, inclusion, wellbeing, and continuous improvement.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Advisor ready to step into a Business Partner role, or for a seasoned Business Partner looking for greater strategic exposure and involvement in complex employee relations and business initiatives.

What you'll bring to the role:
  • Proven HR generalist experience (3-6+ years) in a Senior Advisor or Business Partner capacity. Experience within construction, infrastructure, manufacturing, or other operational environments will be highly regarded.
  • A strong coaching mindset with the ability to build trusted relationships and influence leaders at all levels.
  • Hands-on experience across the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, performance management, talent development, remuneration, and workforce planning.
  • The ability to drive change initiatives and align people strategies with business objectives.
  • Experience using HR systems and people data to generate insights and support informed decision-making.
  • Sound knowledge of New Zealand employment legislation. Experience working in a unionised environment is advantageous but not essential.
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively manage competing priorities.
  • A passion for continuous improvement and finding better ways of working.

Why Join Us:
  • Competitive salary plus KiwiSaver employer contributions matched up to 4%.
  • A standalone regional role with a high degree of autonomy, backed by support from a collaborative and experienced national People & Performance team.
  • Based in East Tamaki with on-site parking available.
  • Dedicated support from Talent Acquisition, Shared Services, and Learning & Development specialists.
  • Be part of a supportive regional leadership team and wider Higgins business.
  • Access to a range of retail discounts and benefits for you and your family.
