Description

Are you ready to make a significant impact on a transformative project? Fletcher Construction is seeking a talented and innovative People & Performance Manager for Te Wai Takamori o Te Awa Kairangi (Te Awa Kairangi).

About the Role

In this senior role, you’ll guide the day‑to‑day people function on a major infrastructure project. You’ll work closely with leaders, support a positive team culture, and ensure people processes are running smoothly so everyone can do their best work.

  • Oversee core people processes including performance cycles, remuneration reviews, goal setting, onboarding and engagement activities.
  • Partner with leaders to understand workforce needs and maintain a clear, forward‑looking resourcing plan.
  • Lead recruitment activity with support from the Talent Acquisition Business Partner to ensure a consistent, supportive experience for candidates and hiring managers.
  • Support capability development across the project, including training needs identification, competency tracking and development planning.
  • Lead engagement activities, including survey roll‑outs, insights analysis and resulting action plans.
  • Strengthen inclusive practices, support diversity initiatives and help support the project’s Women in Construction group.

What you’ll bring to the role

We’re looking for a strategic and hands-on HR leader who thrives in complex project environments and is passionate about building high-performing teams. You’ll be someone who can demonstrate:

  • Tertiary qualification in HR or related field, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years in a senior P&P leadership role with familiarity working in a construction/infrastructure project environment preferred
  • An understanding of alliances, partnerships and joint ventures ideal, but not essential
  • Experience in workforce planning, recruitment oversight and performance processes
  • Proven ability to coach leaders and facilitate workshops
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience developing and executing HR strategies in dynamic environments
  • Encourage inclusive behaviours, support fair processes and contribute to a positive, safe team culture

About Us

We pride ourselves on safely delivering a wide variety of construction and infrastructure projects for the people of New Zealand and the South Pacific. But our power is not in what we do, it’s in who we are. We are a team of 3,700 people working under three brands: Fletcher Construction, Higgins, and Brian Perry Civil. We may be a big team, but we haven’t lost sight of what really matters: looking after our people.

We recognise that treating our people well is only partially about what happens during work hours. It’s also about the impact we have outside of work hours too. That’s why we have incredible learning and development opportunities for staff and their families, support systems and generous corporate discounts.
