Mico Pipelines is an exciting and growing part of our business, supporting civil contractors, drainlayers, plumbers and infrastructure customers working across small projects, drainage and three waters. Supported by a dedicated Pipelines team and our extensive branch network, we are building a stronger presence in this market and creating an exciting platform for future growth.

We have the foundations, capability, and customer relationships already in place and are now looking for a Pipeline National Business Development Manager to identify new opportunities, increase market share, and drive profitable national growth.

About the Role: 
Reporting to the Head of Sales and Marketing this is a pivotal national leadership role responsible for growing Mico's Pipelines business across New Zealand. You'll identify and secure new business opportunities, strengthen key customer and supplier relationships, lead a small high-performing team, and deliver a growth strategy that increases market share and profitability.

What you will be doing:
  • Deliver national Pipelines sales and gross profit targets through strong planning, forecasting, and execution
  • Develop and execute the national Pipelines growth strategy aligned to Mico's wider business objectives
  • Win new business and increase share of wallet across existing and emerging customers
  • Build strong relationships with key customers across civil, infrastructure, commercial and major project markets
  • Lead major tenders, quotations, and project opportunities from identification through to conversion
  • Coach, mentor, and develop a team of three, creating accountability and high performance
  • Partner with branches, Regional Sales Managers and Account Managers to drive national growth opportunities
  • Strengthen supplier partnerships to enhance capability, innovation, and market competitiveness
  • Monitor market activity, customer trends, and competitor movements to identify growth opportunities

What you will bring:
  • Proven experience within the plumbing, pipelines, civil drainage, or infrastructure sector
  • Strong business development experience with a track record of winning new business and delivering commercial growth
  • Experience leading, coaching, and developing a team
  • Sound knowledge of drainage systems, pipe and fittings, PE/PVC products, stormwater, wastewater, or civil infrastructure projects
  • Strong commercial acumen, including pricing, tenders, forecasting, contract negotiation, and margin management
  • Experience building long-term customer and supplier partnerships
  • Exceptional communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills
  • A current Full NZ Drivers Licence and willingness to travel nationally

This is a permanent full-time role based out of our Penrose National Support Office, offering 40 hours per week Monday to Friday, with national travel as required.
