About the Role
We're looking for a Plant Accountant to join our team and play a key role in driving performance across our Ballarat and Bathurst production sites. Partnering closely with operational leaders, you'll be a trusted advisor who helps strengthen accountability, improve decision-making, and identify opportunities to enhance business performance.  This is far more than a traditional accounting role. You'll provide commercial insight, influence strategic decisions, and lead initiatives that improve productivity, profitability, and long-term operational success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with Manufacturing Managers and operational leaders to provide financial insights that support business performance.
  • Prepare annual budgets, forecasts, variance analysis, CAPEX plans, and cash flow projections.
  • Management reporting, including P&L, monthly reporting cycles, including accruals, journals, depreciation, expense allocations, and site P&L reviews. 
  • Identify cost-saving and productivity improvement opportunities across manufacturing operations.
  • Participate in production and operational meetings, influencing stakeholders through data-driven recommendations.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across finance and operational processes
  • Review and maintain BOM and routing accuracy, fixed asset records, depreciation settings, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Support capital projects through capital expenditure preparation, spend tracking, and project performance monitoring.
  • Strengthen inventory control processes and drive working capital improvements.
  • Drive automation, process optimisation, benchmarking, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Coach and influence stakeholders to improve financial capability and support delivery of site priorities.

What You'll Bring
To be successful in this role, you'll bring a combination of strong technical finance expertise, commercial acumen, and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.

  • 3-5 years' experience in plant/manufacturing environment with a recognised CPA or CA qualification. 
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the able to influence, build trust, communicate clearly, and tell the story behind the numbers. 
  • Solid technical experience in manufacturing, with an understanding of operational drivers, P&L behaviour, costing, and efficiency metrics. 
  • Advanced data modelling and analytical capability, including experience working with large datasets and advanced Excel. 
  • Experience using ERP systems such as SAP or BPCS, and reporting tools including Power BI.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Strong influencing and relationship-building capability.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • A continuous improvement mindset and passion for driving change.
